Artwork and Inspiration

I'm a Florida based artist inspired by the natural beauty, color, and distinctive lifestyle of her home state. Working in acrylic, oil, and watercolor, I explore a range of subjects including Florida landscapes, water, wildlife, and the human figure. With a background in counseling, I have always been interested in the ways people connect with one another, their surroundings, and with themselves. Art became another way for me to explore and express those connections. My daughter’s courage in facing her own fears and take risks ultimately inspired me to confront and pursue my lifelong dream of painting professionally. My  work was selected for the FASTA Exhibition in 2022 and 2024. Today, I continue to explore Florida and the human experience through paintings that range from soft and atmospheric to colorful, bold, and graphic. 

My work is rooted in connection to nature, to place, to one another, and to ourselves. Living in Florida, I am continually inspired by the water, wildlife, tropical landscapes, color, and light that surround me. I am especially interested in the emotions these familiar places and experiences can hold and the way our surroundings become intertwined with our own memories and sense of self. Some of my work is detailed and atmospheric, while other pieces use simplified forms, bold color, and a more graphic style. I enjoy that freedom and don’t feel the need to approach every subject in the same way. Connection remains the thread throughout my work. 

Whether I am painting a Florida landscape, the ocean, wildlife, or the female form, I want the work to create a feeling something familiar, peaceful, joyful, reflective, or simply a moment that makes the viewer stop and look a little longer.

 Acrylics and oils on canvas enable me to explore bolder and richer textures. With these mediums, I can create a sense of depth and dimension, drawing you in with vibrant colors and captivating scenes. The versatility and flexibility of acrylics and oils allow me to layer and blend colors to achieve intriguing visual effects.

Watercolor allows me to create delicate compositions that beautifully capture the essence and fluidity of Florida. The transparency and ethereal quality of watercolors evoke a sense of tranquility, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the captivating beauty of nature.
